Learning to deal with anger

Day 3 6/26/2012:

The morning started out rough with lots of bickering and me trying to talk them about treating each other with love and respect.  It was frustrating but I kept on praying.  We went to OMSI and played for most of the day so they can have fun instead being cooped in the house again since it was raining.  They did pretty good the rest of the day.  The only big issue was when we asked the girls to clean the room and Angelique was melting down and Katelyn did really well with tuning her out.

I didn’t read the book yesterday since we were out playing but I have been praying and talking to the kids what it looks like to be Christ like and their behaviors need to resemble it.  I know I need to do a better job in modeling that since I have a tendency to get frustrated and angry at them.  I need to model it with other people because my kids can see that as well.  I have been talking to them about being slow to anger, slow to speak and quick to listen because that will help a lot.  I am going to memorize that verse and help the kids to learn it as well.  We need to remember that words hurts worse than the actions.

James 1:19 & 20

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
